Content Marketing VS SEO // Which One Drives More Traffic? [Video]

If you had to pick SEO or content marketing, and you could only pick one, which one would you choose? Today I’m going to break down content marketing versus SEO. Which one drives more traffic?RESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/____________________________________________00:00 – Introduction00:23 – The old SEO Vs Content Marketing debate01:16 – The Beginner’s Guide To Content Marketing01:25 – Doing Content Marketing On Different Platforms02:03 – Targeting The Right Keyword and Offering Amazing Content02:31 – Writing Great Headlines And Meta Descriptions For Your Content.02:54 – Optimizing Your Content For Readability 03:09 – Structure Data03:43 – Internal Linking03:58 – User Experience Improvements04:22 – Importance Of Optimizing And Having a Good Content on Your Bottom Line. What do you think? Is it SEO? Is it content marketing? Well, you’re about to find out. A lot of people actually say, “This is a false debate since SEO and content marketing should work together.” And that’s definitely true when it comes to generating traffic on your own website. If SEO’s about optimizing pages on your website, ultimately you’ll be optimizing the pages that at least have some content, whether it’s your title, maybe a description, it doesn’t have to be a blog post. So there is truth to it in which it’s really hard to do SEO if you don’t have content. And a lot of people who watch my channel already know SEO to some degree, but with content marketing, most people don’t. So we could say that content marketing has more potential to generate traffic than SEO if you think about it in more holistically. Beyond just visitors, you could be getting views to your YouTube videos, engagement, followers, even clicks on social media channels, people listening and subscribing to your podcast, viewers in your live event. Now most of my audience is focused pretty heavily on generating traffic to their own websites. So let’s dive in to how content marketing and SEO should work together. The bottom line is your content won’t perform well unless you do SEO as well. Sure, you make it a social boost from it in the short run but if you want long-lasting traffic, you need a focus on SEO and content marketing. And of course, content marketing can drive you traffic without SEO, like YouTube, podcasts, that are all examples of content marketing but if you combine both, you’ll do even better. A Minimalist’s Approach to SEO: The Only 3 Things You Should do Every Week To Get Traffic [Video]

There are over 200 factors in Google’s algorithm. Wouldn’t it be great if you could rank higher on Google without learning each of those factors? Today I’m going to break down a minimalist approach to SEO. The only three things you should do every week to get traffic.RESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/____________________________________________If you’re overwhelmed and don’t have lots of time to invest, it’s important to know where to focus your efforts. Sure, it would be great to do everything, but that’s not always realistic. And instead of doing everything that you read online about SEO, let’s see the activities that will produce the most impact on your business. So number one, optimizing existing content. Now optimizing existing content is all about finding new keywords, sitting on page two and three and optimizing for them. What you also want to end up doing is going to Google Search Console, and then looking to see which pages are getting the most impressions, but the least amount of clicks. And within there, you want to click on those pages and look to see which keywords are getting a lot of impressions that are on page two or bottom of page one that you may not be talking about too much within your content. And then what you want to do is update the content to include those keywords. You may also want to include those keywords within your title tag and your meta description. The next thing when it comes to updating content is deleting your underperforming content. See, just because you write content and you generate a lot of links to it, it doesn’t mean that it’s a good piece of content. It doesn’t mean that it’s going to rank. It doesn’t mean that it’s going to get social shares. Just some content, even though people link to it, they just don’t care to read about it. And that’s the harsh reality of content marketing. The next thing when it comes to updating content is consolidating content. When we’re also talking about updating content, I also want to discuss refreshing content that brings traffic to your website. There’s a lot of content that is already doing well and is generating traffic on your site. But what you’ll find is when you log to Google Search Console, some of these articles will drop in traffic over time, or they’ll continually rise. Also, if your article’s continually doing well, what are the cures that are driving you this increase in traffic? What could you do to even make it more related to those cures and better so that way you can get even more traffic? Now, the next tactic that I want you to focus on is doing competitive analysis to guide your content efforts. Here’s what I mean by this, right? So we already discussed updating content. Now, when we’re talking about competitive analysis. So what I want you to do is head over to Ubersuggest, and I want you to type in your domain. Now, when you type in your domain, you’ll get a report of your top pages, your traffic, the keywords you’re ranking for, but you’ll also see in the left hand navigation, an option to look at competing domains. So you want to end up looking at all the other sites that are similar to you. And what this Ubersuggest report does is it shows you all the similar keywords that you rank for, that other people also rank for. And it also shows you the keyword gaps. This report breaks down their most popular pages from top to bottom. It shows you who’s linking to them and it shows you those keywords that each of those top pages are ranking for. This will also give you new content ideas in case you don’t cover any of the topics that they’re generating a lot of traffic for that you’re not generating any traffic for. And this will give you ideas of what type of content to create. Now let’s talk about creating new content. Content clusters around keywords that your website has the potential to rank for. That’s what I mean. So if you go back to Ubersuggest, you type in a keyword, let’s say I go after SEO. In Ubersuggest in the keyword ideas report, there’s actually an option where you can actually put in your domain name and it’ll adjust the keywords that you have the ability to rank for. So once you put in your domain name, Ubersuggest will then filter the results. So you want keywords you can rank for that are going to be much easier and those are the ones that you should start creating content around and create content clusters. A Realistic Approach to SEO For Busy Solo Entrepreneurs [Video]

SEO’s tough and usually requires a big team. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to do SEO, when you’re a solo entrepreneur? Look, there is. Today I’m going to break down a realistic approach to SEO for busy solo entrepreneurs.RESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/____________________________________________If you don’t have a big team or any team for that matter of fact, I want you to focus just on two things. Number one, optimizing existing content and number two, creating new content. So let’s go over optimizing existing content first. First, use the Google search console. Google search console will show you, Hey, what content is getting impressions and which content is getting clicks and also shows your click-through rate. And I want you to improve your click-through rate and the way you end up doing that is look at the keywords that are sitting on page two. Are those keywords in your title tag? Are they within your meta description? Is your title tag and meta-description, you know, very relevant from an appealing perspective. Think of copywriting. The next thing I like doing is putting in the keywords that you’re seeing in Google search console within to those pages as well. So now that you just put them in your title tag and meta description, also put them within the content. Second use Ubersuggest. Ubersuggest has a rank tracking feature that you can get started for free and you can see which ones of your keywords are getting more traction and less traction over time. It’ll tell you which keywords are getting more traction on mobile or even desktop device, or even in certain regions. Another feature I want you to use in Ubersuggest is a content ideas report. This shows you all the other people that have content around similar keywords, like your competitors, and really make sure you there are social shares and the backlinks and the headlines that they’re using. Third, use Google analytics. I want you to improve your dwell time. I want you to identify the content pieces that are underperforming and consolidate them with the pages that are doing well on the same topic. Now let’s go over creating new content. First, let’s find keyword opportunities that you can rank for. Go to Ubersuggest, use a keyword ideas report, you can find in the left-hand navigation, and type in keywords related to your space. Then I want you to go to the competitive analysis report in Ubersuggest. This is where you can put it in a competitor URL. It’ll show you their top pages by traffic show you the social shares for those pages and it’ll even show you all the keywords that the competitor’s page ranks for. And then you can go over to their site and look at that page and be like, whoa, this is the content that they have. I can create something way better than this.Second, let’s analyze your competitors for new keywords you want to target. You’ll see a report within Ubersuggest in the competitive analysis that just shows you all the keywords your competitors rank for.The next feature in Ubersuggest you should check out is the SERP analysis within the keyword ideas report. And this will give you an idea of, Hey, this is how I create content that covers the whole topic. Now that we’re going away from Ubersuggest what I want you to also focus on is writing content that is at least 50% better than everyone else who’s ranking for that keyword. Now last but not least, I want to wrap up this video by covering a few other things that you should know. On-page SEO will produce better outcomes if you’re managing an older website. In the early days, you could pretty much solve your on-page SEO by just decreasing your load time. And as you create new content, you want to work on your title tags, meta-description tags, heading tags, which just helps you rank. You want to have a site map. And make sure that your robots are at TXT or your meta-tags, you’re not blocking any of the major crawlers or any pages that you shouldn’t be blocking. And when it comes to creating content, you should be spending two to eight hours per week, depending on how competitive your niche is and how amazing your content needs to be in order to outperform your competition. If your site’s really big, you could actually spend a lot of time on on-page SEO and it could be a daily thing. You may have people full-time focused on it. The ONLY Features You Need to Use in SEO Tools [Video]

Are you getting overwhelmed with your SEO reports and all the tools? There are so many out there. Well, don’t worry. You’re not alone. Today, I’m going to break down the only features you need to use in SEO tools.Don’t get bogged down by reports and features and tools. That do very little to actually get you more rankings. I’m going to break down four main features and reports that you need to rank higher. And here’s best of all, you can do pretty much all of this in Ubersuggest. RESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/____________________________________________You can find it in neilpatel.com/ubersuggest, or just go to ubersuggest.com. And you can do literally most of this stuff for free in Ubersuggest. That’s what’s great. So in that sense, we’ll go down the four main features you need to use and how you can do it for free. So, let’s dive right in. Number one, Rank Tracking, Look, on Google, if you don’t know what your rankings are, if they’re going up or if they’re going down, or how things are improving or declining, how are you going to improve? Those things are really important, right? Be here’s the thing with SEO, it’s a long game. And Rank Tracking shows you that, and it can track your rankings on a daily basis and a weekly basis, whatever you prefer. And you can even track your rankings on mobile devices and desktop. You can do the all in Ubersuggest for free. And what’s cool about that is that way you can see how you’re performing on different device types. And it tells you when you’re doing SEO, what’s working and what isn’t. The second thing that you need to look at with these SEO tools is Competitive Analysis. Competitive Analysis tells you what your competitors are doing and what’s working for them. Look, you don’t want to recreate the wheel. You want to do what’s working for others, and just do it better. Why start from scratch? And what’s cool is, you can see the keywords by clicking on the Keywords button and you’ll see all the keywords that that page ranked for. And that’ll tell you, hey, should I also create a page that’s very similar. Well, if I do, now I know what keywords to go after because it’s related to my business and it can also drive me sales. And another cool feature is you can also see all the backlinks that are driven to that page. All the other sites that are link into your competitor’s page. Because here’s the thing, if someone wants to link to your competitor, they’re probably willing to link to you too. So now, you got a list of links going to your competitors. So, you can create a better page than that’s more thorough, go after all their keywords, and you can also hit up all the people linking to them and ask them to link to you too. The other cool thing that I like about the Competitive Analysis report on Ubersuggest, you can see how much traffic your competitors getting. If they’re getting more traffic month over month or less traffic month over month, because Google is doing so many updates. The third report that you need to look at and feature within these SEO tools is Keyword Ideas. Now, the Keyword Ideas report in Ubersuggest gives you all these ideas that you can go after. So, you want to go after popular keywords. And what’s cool about the Ubersuggest Keyword Ideas report, you can actually filter it by some any region, such as United States or Canada, or UK, or India, or Brazil, or even South Korea. And within the Keyword Ideas report in Ubersuggest, there’s also a Content Ideas report. What that’ll show you all the content that you can write about that are related to those keywords. So, you can see what’s popular on Facebook, what’s popular on Pinterest, what’s popular from the backlinks perspective, and what’s even popular from an organic SEO perspective. The last factor, and this is number four, is Backlinks. If you don’t get people linking to you, you’re not going to do well. Backlinks are like votes. So, you want to get ideally bigger sites linking to you and more relevant sites. And you can use the Backlinks report within Ubersuggest. And what’s cool is they have a Backlink Opportunity report more specifically, where you can put in your URL and then your competitor URLs. And it’ll show you all the people that linked to your competitors, but don’t link to you. Because if someone links to not just one but two, three, four of your competitors and they don’t link to you, the chances are they don’t mind linking to other people in your space because they’re already linked to lots of your competitors. Advice Every Online Business Owner Should’ve Heard Before Starting SEO [Video]

SEO’s great, but before you really invest a lot into it, there’s something you should know. Today I’m going to break up advice every online business owner should hear before starting SEO. Look, SEO’s long-term. You need other traffic sources to make money before you succeed with SEO. RESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________CodeCanyon: https://codecanyon.net/Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/____________________________________________Now, let’s go over what you need to generate sales now, which will make you cash so you can then take that cash and invest in SEO. It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t start doing SEO right now because in the future, is one of the highest ROI marketing channels out there. But still you need to start doing stuff right now to generate those sales because you can’t wait six months, or a year, or two years depending on the keywords you’re going after to really get the results. First, you need to learn how to convert visitors into buyers. If you can’t convert visitors into buyers, then it doesn’t matter how much traffic you get. And if you can’t get your conversion rate high enough, the economics won’t work out, especially with paid advertising because the costs are continually rising, especially after COVID. You don’t really need a billion dollars for engineering when you’re a startup, but you do need it to scale your sales and marketing. And you need to have a conversion funnel with upsells and downsells. That’s how you get the most out of your revenue. The upsells and downsells, the key with that is speed and automation. And as long as you’re producing results, people gladly take you off those upsells and downsells. Second thing that you need to know. Search engines give older websites more authority and more placement. Now there’s no guarantee that if you’re older website, you have more authority in your website because you could be a brand new hot website that every wants a link to it talk about, but that’s usually not the case. Typically the older sites have much more authority. And no matter how much money you have, you can’t easily buy that age. You just have to be patient. And that’s the thing with SEO. It is super effective. The ROI is massive and that’s why we have one of the fastest 500 growing companies according to “E Magazine”, because SEO works for customers and our results are proven.Third don’t take short-term gains for long-term losses. So doing what’s best for your customers wins in the long run. Fourth, create a better mouse trap, as marketing is becoming too expensive. Look, I’m a marketer and I’m telling you, it’s just going to keep going up and up. So you’ve got to figure out a better mouse trap. And you can do some things that are very similar to sites like CodeCanyon that can help you put tools on your website, which can help you get traffic and you’d give away stuff for free, and you can buy some of these tools for 10, 20, 30, $40. They’re not going to be as good as what Zillow did or what I did, but it’s a start. And then over time you can invest more money to making it better. NOT Every Keyword is Worth Pursuing in SEO (Here’s Why) [Video]

Just because a keyword gets a lot of traffic, it doesn’t mean it’s worth going after. Today I’m going to break down, how not every keyword is worth pursuing an SEO and why.RESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/____________________________________________Going after keywords that are too competitive is a waste of time, specially if you have a low domain authority. Look, if you’re going after keywords like credit cards and your brand new site, your chance of ranking are slim to none, you’re going to spend all this time and effort and money to try to get there, and you’re not going to get the results anytime soon. You’re better off going after keywords that can provide quicker results, and then once you’re getting some rankings, you’re generating some traffic, some revenue, then in the long run, you can invest after those harder terms that take longer to rank for. Before I dive in with the tactics, I’ve got a quick stop for you. I get over 9 million visitors a month, but less than .1%, not 1%, I’m saying .1% of those visitors, ever become a customer. High volume keywords don’t mean much to go after if they don’t have the correct intent. So how do you find out the right keywords to go after? Well, step one, go to Uber suggests. Step two, type in the keyword related to your industry. Step three, you’ll see a report that loads on Ubersuggest that just has overview on the traffic and some stars of the keyword. In the left hand navigation I want you to click on the keyword Ideas report. And when you click on the Keyword Ideas report, you’ll see a button on the very right called Keywords I Can Rank For. If you don’t see it, that means you need a log in. It’s free to log in. And once you log in, you can put in your domain name. And when you put it in your domain name, Ubersuggest will analyze your site and show you that an appropriate list of keywords that you can target, that you actually have a shot of ranking for and the shorter timeframe versus waiting years to get rankings for. Now filter the base on the intent of what is relevant to your proctor services that you’re selling. And what you’ll find is Ubersuggest will break down if a keyword is easy to rank for or hard to rank for. Ideally target the ones that are the easiest to rank for, because it’ll show as your difficulty score. Even though you have a list of all the keywords that you can rank for, pick the ones that are not just the most relevant to your business, but pick the ones that have the lowest SEO difficulty score. That means you’ll be able to get the results faster. That’s what I want you to start doing. Now the next thing I want you to do is that you go to the Site Audit Report within Ubersuggest. If you’re starting off with SEO, it’s not all about traffic, it’s all about ranking for the right keywords that drive a results in the short run so that you will have more money to invest in more long-term marketing approaches. With the Site Audit report, put in your URL, it’ll break down all the Errors, what you need to fix, what’s the most crucial, what is more suggested and isn’t as crucial, how fast your website’s loading, load speeds are really important factor because more people are browsing your website or pretty much the internet these days off of mobile devices than they are on desktop devices. And what’s cool with the Ubersuggest audit report is, it breaks out each and every single error in priority. What I mean by that is the ones listed at the top show you “hey, you need to fix these errors first because they’ll have the biggest impact on your rankings and track.” And then you second, third, fourth. So just knock them all down in order. The last thing I want you to do is go create a project within Ubersuggest. So go to your dashboard, add a project, put in your URL, and put in the keywords that you want to rank for, and that you’re targeting. You know, at the beginning, maybe not week over week or day over day, but in the long run, quarter over quarter, you’ll definitely see your rankings go up and if you fast forward a little bit, you’ll start seeing your rankings go up to page one and page two. 10 EASY SEO IDEAS That Will BLOW UP Your Traffic in 2021 [Video]

SEO doesn’t have to be hard. There are simple ways to grow your traffic. Today, I’m going to break down 10 easy SEO ideas that’ll blow up your traffic in 2021. RESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________3 SEO Trends in Automation for 2021 (Trend #3 Is Coming Sooner Than You Think): https://youtu.be/Dv-44E0lPogThe Biggest Impact on SEO: https://youtu.be/DKPT6vaWcWkUbersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/____________________________________________Number one, combine pages around the same topics. Here’s what people don’t know. If you have two pages that are on link building and they cover pretty much the same exact thing, Google won’t know which page to rank. Sometimes if you’re lucky, you can get both of them to rank, but in many cases, they’ll go back and forth, it confuses Google. So what you’re better off doing is combining the pages, combine the content, having one more detailed page, and then you should get higher rankings. If you don’t know which page has more authority, you can just put in your URL into Ubersuggest and then in the backlinks report, it’ll show you which one has more links and more authority. Number two, delete underperforming pages. It’s better to have a handful of pages that drives a ton of traffic than having a site with a million pages that drive very little to no traffic. Number three, search for the keywords that you’re trying to rank for or already rank for on Google. Look at the Google ads. If you look at the Google ads, that’ll give you ideas for your title tags. See people used to believe that if you want to rank at the top, it’s all about keywords in your title tag and your meta description.Number four, create infographics from articles that have high social share counts. So you can use Ubersuggest. It has a content ideas report. Anytime you put a keyword into Ubersuggest, it tells you, “Hey, here’s all the traffic for this keyword,” but in the left-hand navigation, there’s this content ideas report. If you click on that, it’ll tell you all the blog posts around the web that are popular, based on social shares, search traffic, backlinks. Number five, create video content on your top performing content pieces. Look, yes, Google is the most popular search engine, but what most people don’t know YouTube is the second most popular search engine. So take your best performing articles and create videos like I’m doing here and pop them up on YouTube. Number six, send link juice to pages that are sitting on page two or three of the SERPs. So on Ubersuggest, you can track your rankings and it’ll show you, for your website, what keywords you’re ranking for, what page you are and what position. Look at all the ones that are on page two and page three, positions 11 through 20 or 11 through 30, and what I want you to do is see if you can link to those pages from other relevant pages within your site. That’s called internal linking. Number seven, create “Best” related articles. Here’s what I mean by “Best” related articles. Anytime you do a search for like toaster ovens or tools, or SEO tools or credit cards, you always see like the best 10 credit cards. the best 10 toaster ovens, the best 10 toaster tools, the best 47 SEO tools, and the list goes on and on.Number eight, implement AMP pages. So AMP is a form of accelerated mobile pages and what it does is it just makes your content load faster for mobile devices. I’ve implemented AMP on my site and what I’ve found is in the United States, in certain regions, it doesn’t really do much for my traffic, but in regions like Brazil, where I have my content translated, I found that adding AMP helped me get more traffic. Number nine, use structured markup. This will help increase your chances of getting SERP snippets. You know whenever you search for something and then you see a little blurb at the top and Google’s just pulling from it, that’s an example of SERP snippets. Number 10, leverage backlink opportunities on Ubersuggest. Because if someone’s willing to link to three, four of your competitors, the chances are, if you hit them up, they’ll be willing to link to you as well, versus trying to hit up all these sites that don’t link to any of your competitors, and when you hit those people up, they’re going to be like, “Hey, why do I want to link to you? Again, if someone links to three or four of your competitors, the chances are they’ll link to you and this Ubersuggest backlinks opportunity report shows you all the opportunities for you to easily get links.
