In this episode, Chris Do is joined by special guest Paco de Leon to explore the concept of inversion thinking when it comes to pricing creative projects. Can charging less actually benefit creatives in the long run? Join us as we delve into the arguments for and against charging more for creative work. Many creatives struggle with pricing their projects effectively, often leading to undervaluing their work and ultimately working more for less. However, by embracing the idea of charging more, we can unlock a range of benefits that positively impact not only individual creatives but the industry as a whole.Through a series of insightful arguments, Chris and Paco dismantle the commonly held beliefs about charging less and instead highlight the advantages of charging more. By charging higher rates, creatives can experience increased profitability, work less, and produce higher-quality work. Additionally, they can attract better clients, receive fair treatment, and foster a healthier economy.Charging more also brings about positive societal changes. As creatives collectively raise their prices, the value of creativity in society rises. This creates opportunities to serve diverse demographics, help non-profit organizations through pro bono work, and inspire the next generation of creatives to aim higher. Furthermore, charging more allows for the hiring of top talent, enhancing the overall transformative impact on both the individual and the industry.Join Chris and Paco in this eye-opening conversation as they explore the transformative power of charging more for creative services. Discover how adopting a new mindset around pricing can not only benefit your career but also contribute to a world where creativity, art, and design are truly valued. Small tweaks can make a big difference! Don’t get discouraged if something doesn’t work the first time — try again with a few minor adjustments and you’ll be surprised by the results.
In this video, Lisa Galea emphasizes the importance of knowing why you want something, rather than just knowing what you want. They discuss how our brains filter information based on our beliefs, and how we need to be aware of this filter and actively choose what information we want to focus on. Lisa also talks about the danger of comparing ourselves to others and wanting what they have without really understanding what it would entail. Ultimately, the key to getting what you want is understanding your own motivations and desires, and being clear on why you want something before setting goals to achieve it.Want a deeper dive? Why YouTube Is a Must-Have Platform for Serious EntrepreneursWhy YouTube Is the Key to Building a Strong Personal BrandIn this video, Sean Cannell emphasizes the importance of YouTube as a platform for serious business owners, entrepreneurs, and creatives. He starts by stating that it would be irresponsible for any of them to ignore YouTube, as it provides a unique opportunity to create content that can live on forever and continue to attract views over a long period of time.Cannell speaks from experience, having been in the video and social media industry for a long time. He started a freelance video business in 2009 and eventually founded Think Media, where he discovered the power of affiliate marketing, content creation, and video ranking. He fell in love with YouTube because it is the only platform where content can truly live on forever. What makes YouTube unique, according to Cannell, is that it is not just a content feed like other social media platforms. It is a content library where users can find videos related to specific topics they are interested in. This is made possible by YouTube’s algorithm, which recommends content to viewers based on their behavior. This makes it a powerful tool for entrepreneurs and creatives who want to attract their ideal customers and clients. By creating strategic content that addresses their pain points and problems, they can attract and serve their target audience, ultimately leading to monetization.Although YouTube is not traditionally considered a social media platform, it does offer unique interactive features such as comments and conversations. While it may not be as interactive as other platforms, Cannell notes that YouTube is a forgotten social media platform that is not always included in the list of social media platforms.YouTube is also expanding into podcasting, which Cannell is excited about. In fact, he reveals that YouTube is the number one podcast destination for listening consumption, despite being larger than other traditional podcasting platforms such as Apple and Spotify. YouTube is investing in audio creators, acquiring 20 NPR shows, and investing $500,000 into creators who are transitioning from audio to video podcasting. In summary, Cannell encourages entrepreneurs and creatives to invest in their YouTube presence to maximize their impact, protect their brand, and future-proof their business. By leveraging YouTube’s unique features, they can create strategic content that attracts and serves their ideal audience, ultimately leading to monetization and long-term success.Want a deeper dive?
