Side Projects That Help Grow a Career or Business

I go over 2 big side projects that can help anyone with their career growth, or with starting a business / entrepreneurship.

The side projects that I go over in this video I have done myself, and they have personally helped push my career forward in one way or another. They have helped me gain more skills and experience, that have helped me make more money, secure jobs, and more!

I work in the online space – in the internet marketing industry, so most of the side projects that I go over in this video are related to that. But, they can also help anyone who is interested in entrepreneurship or starting a business too – because online marketing, building a website, and just general online media or internet marketing skills is extremely important for any business owner in today’s day in age, right?

The first side project that I’m going to talk about is…

#1. Starting a Blog or Website

The first blog I started was years ago, probably almost 10 years ago now… it’s no longer live, but it definitely helped me gain new skills and experience which then lead me to grow my career in the online marketing space, and has also enabled me to help others too, like help other business owners for example.

Building a blog or website will teach you about domain names, hosting, different website building platforms (or CMSs, content management systems) like Weebly, Squarespace, Shopify, WordPress & others… I’ll probably make a video in the near future that goes into the different website building platforms out there as well as their pros & cons, so hit that subscribe button and make sure you’re subscribed!

Building a blog or website will also help you develop your writing skills, you’ll gain some knowledge and experience with SEO (search engine optimization), social media marketing, website design and conversion optimization, you can start an email newsletter and get experience in building an email list and email marketing, and so much more!

Building my first blog taught me so much about all of these things, it gave me a ton of skills and experience, which would’ve taken me much longer to get if I had just relied on my jobs.

So building a blog or some sort of website is a great side project – this is a good one for anyone else in the online marketing space or looking to get into it, but is also a good one for anyone interested in entrepreneurship or starting a business too!

#2. Starting a YouTube channel

Starting a YouTube channel has pushed me to develop new skills, not only in videography and video editing, but also in design, writing, project management, marketing, and more.

Starting a YouTube channel is no easy thing, but it doesn’t need to be too complicated either… just start, and develop from there.

It will allow you to express yourself, gain new skills, and build a personal brand or portfolio that can all definitely help with career growth – all while having the chance to help or educate others in a very personal way – which is a great feeling too.

Yes starting my YouTube Channel has helped me develop my videography skills and video editing skills, but a big skill that I’ve developed from it is my design skills.

Just the work of creating a decent thumbnail image for a YouTube video has enabled me to better my design skills – among other things.

Those are the 2 main side projects that I wanted to go over in this video… there are definitely many others out there that will help with career growth, but these 2 I have personal experience with and know how powerful they can be!

Zoho CRM Tutorial Video #43 Today, we'll be discussing the Zoho CRM dashboard and reports overview.You could use the Reports module in Zoho CRM for tracking your company activity. There’s a list of system default reports available in this module, but you could also create custom reports. This is an example of the report pipeline by stages; you could see all deals pipeline groups by the stage, every account, every deal, closing date, probability, and total sum of amount. Here you could also check the system default dashboards, but also create your custom dashboard with different components. This is an example of lead conversion to the deal. So you could build a component where you could see the total number of leads, total number of leads converted into clients, number of deals created, deals won, and total conversion rate.
