IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Starting a business is hard. And it can be even harder for marginalized populations.
But Iowa City’s new Dream City Entrepreneurial Hub is looking to make it easier.
“I think oftentimes the greatest challenge is exposure, right? Whether that’s exposure to the knowledge, exposure to the space, exposure to what’s available. So, as an organization, we really want to help expose the resources available to entrepreneurs, as well as to showcase the entrepreneur themselves.” said Dream City Executive Director Frederick Newell.
In March, Iowa City awarded local nonprofit Dream City 3 million dollars of ARPA funds to renovate their space. Today, they broke ground on the new hub.
The nonprofit aims to foster growth and creativity among those they say need it the most.
And they hope their updated hub will allow those individuals to make a name for themselves.
