Jeremy Attelly attended the Executive Coaching Program at EEC and he explains what he learned changed him then and continues to change him today.
What main idea did you learn during your training as a coach at European School of Coaching?
There are two different aspects that were very important. The first one is the active listening. We are living in a world with a lot of noise and were things go so fast that sometimes we forget what the basics are. And the basics is about listening and understanding people. Everything is communications, this is the nature of society right now. And this was a big element, a take out from the program.
The second one was the management of emotions, something that afterwards I’ve been working on and digging deeper in Alumni and else where. This understanding of emotions is fantastic and the power that it can bring on a personal and professional level is absolutely amazing.
What did you thing about the teaching methods?
The way that everything is approached is not something theoretical it’s basically something that you start living it and you can see that the moment that you start with this course you can see yourself and look at life a different way, with much more enlightenment and this is one of the key aspects for me, discovering new skills, new things that weren’t only theoretical, being there, in contact, living it, sharing with people and looking at it from a totally egoless point of view.
It’s about being naked and a rebirth in a sense, and this is the magic of this course, it helps you get to a higher level because you understand your vulnerability and you can be yourself, which is amazing and transformational.
How was your relationship with teachers and participants?
There is this bond and actually like because in the way the course is structured, there is a first level of trying to review the level of ego and image, and this means that somehow we are all on the same level, regardless of how senior you are, how important or power you’ve got in your professional activity. And this is the magic of it, it’s amazing to see how everybody is growing and evolving together.
Right now… and I had experts and very important people professionally working with me in this course… what I do have is a lot of friends, I can call them all friends. And even after some time, we connect and stay in touch. We evolve together, some of them still coach me and I still coach them.
How has the training impacted you on a personal and professional level?
I would say the first one is it helps you to grow as a person, this is my key take of the course. It helped me to grow as a person. Of course, I apply it today on ever single aspect of what I’m doing.
Professionally, I’m much more confident. Right now, I have different businesses and one of them is to continue in coaching. I’m an executive coach and I’m working with coaches all around the world, luckily with different languages which is also a challenge, and it’s great to meet such range of people with different backgrounds and stories. We all have the same concerns we just express them in different ways.
So where this is brining me? I learned also not to have any more set objectives. I’m going with the flow, and I’m living with enlightenment.. this idea of I’m doing this, and tomorrow it could be different, but what I do know is that my main purpose in life is to try to help people in getting better, and this is what I want to bring to society, this is the key take of everything.
Did the program meet your expectations and would you recommend it?
I’m extremely pleased. It was a such a great development at that exact moment of time where I was looking at different professional opportunities besides doing coaching. I just realize how powerful this course has been. It was important at the time I was attending the school but it’s even bigger now, because I realize the real transformation this course has brought to me in the way of how I express myself, how I think, and how I’m able to connect with people; it’s pretty much amazing to see how you are a different person, and actually different in a good sense, because it’s something connected to your gut, your feelings and your emotions. I know exactly who I am, what I want to do and I enjoy it. I just enjoy it.
