We’ve never seen anything like social media before, not in our lifetime, not in any lifetime. With literally billions of users across every single corner of the globe, it’s unprecedented lightning-fast method of exchanging information and misinformation.00:00 Intro00:32 The Lie00:59 The Proof02:03 TipsRESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________Ubersuggest: neilpatel.com/ubersuggestAnswerThePublic: answerthepublic.com ____________________________________________As someone that posts regularly on just about every meaningful social media platform, I see all sorts of crazy takes everywhere all the time. And the one that absolutely drives me crazy, because of how untrue it is, is social media marketing doesn’t drive bottom-line results. That’s just flat-out wrong. For a lot of the old-school business owners, they just assume that social media marketing is something that kids are on and their brand social media presence is basically set up to keep up appearances and maintain some kind of online presence. But the reality is that social media marketing can drive tons of traffic leads and conversions, period. Don’t believe me.Here are a few stats that show you what a big fat lie that, hey social media marketing doesn’t provide results really is. 34% of consumers use social media to learn about brands and their products and services. In essence, people love figuring out what products and services to use based on what they see on the social web. 70% of marketers use Facebook ads and there were 10 million active advertisers on the platform last year. 83% of people used Instagram to discover new products and 87% said that they would took a specific action after seeing more information. 64% of buyers would rather send a message to a brand on social media, then call customer service. And 43% of Gen Z consumers have made a purchase from social media platforms. 79% of people say that UGC impacts their purchasing decisions.Look, that’s a lot of stats. So if you think that social media marketing isn’t important, you’re dead wrong. It really does help. What I want you to do is first off, go on all the major social platforms that your ideal customers on, whether that’s LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, all the main ones. Two, I want you to post at least one time a day. And yes, you can repurpose the content they use for one social network for others. You may have to adjust it here and there, but that’s what I want you to start off with.Three, when people leave a comment on your social profiles, I want you to respond to ’em, engage with them and take care of ’em. By taking care of people, it creates amazing word-of-mouth marketing and it creates a lot of brand evangelists.Four, look to see what content that you’re posting resonates and what content doesn’t. Post more of this stuff that’s working for audience and less of this stuff that’s not working. And five, last but not least, what I really really want you to do is go look at Facebook’s ad library. You can see what a lot of your competition’s doing with their Facebook campaigns and this will give you ideas on what can also work with both your organic and paid social campaigns. My seven favorite social media tools that are free. Do you know what the second, third, fourth and fifth most popular website have in common in this world? Let me give you a hint. It’s YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. What they all have in common is they’re all social websites. Social media is popular. So, how can you leverage it to get more traffic to your website? Sure, you can hire people to help you out but you may not have that option because it costs money. On the flip side, there are a lot of free tools that you can use that can help you out. And if you leverage them, you’ll get more social media traffic. Here are seven free social media tools that you have to check out.RESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________Social Blade: https://socialblade.com/ManyChat: https://try.manychat.com/Hootsuite: https://www.hootsuite.com/Exploding Topics: https://explodingtopics.com/MailChimp: https://mailchimp.com/Linktree: https://linktr.ee/Canva: https://www.canva.com/Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/____________________________________________Tool number one, Social Blade. Social Blade is a free analytics tool. Type in anyone’s username and you can see their social stats for any of their social profiles. Here’s my social stats for YouTube. The reason I like Social Blade is you can see the daily subscriber growth. When you see a pop, look for the content that was posted on that date. It’ll give you insights into the type of content people love that your competition is posting on.Tool number 2, ManyChat. With social media, you never know what the algorithms are going to do. It’s tough to continue to get traffic from these social sites. Using tools like ManyChat, you can keep communicating with your subscribers, especially through Facebook messenger, Instagram direct messages and SMS.Tool number 3, Hootsuite. There are tons of social platforms out there, and it’s hard to keep up with all of them. Using Hootsuite, you can easily post to all the social platforms using that one simple tool. Their free plan allows you to easily manage two platforms and sadly, you got to pay when you want to manage more. This way you can consistently post on all the main social platforms that you’re trying to leverage.Tool 4, Exploding Topics. If you haven’t checked out Exploding Topics, make sure you do so. It’s a tool by my friend, Brian Dean. It allows you to see what’s exploding on the web right now, especially on the social web. If you create content around those topics, you’ll find others are interested in it and you’ll gain more likes and even more followers. But be careful, as you need to make sure that the content you create around these exploding topics needs to be relevant to your overall social profiles.Tool 5, MailChimp. You’re probably wondering how the heck is an email tool like MailChimp related to social media. Well, have you ever heard this saying that the money’s in the list. When you have all these social followers on social media, you need them to join your list. And the easy way to do so is to get them to opt into your email list. So by using tools like MailChimp, you’ll be able to more likely stay in touch with your audience. This is important because social algorithms keep changing and it’s hard and harder to make sure that your followers see your content.Tool 6, Linktree. Have you noticed that it isn’t easy to monetize your social following? A lot of that is because you can’t really promote all your products and services. But by using Linktree, you can have one link that you push them to from your social bios, from these platforms and they can pick the services and the offerings that you have and pick which one’s right for them. It’s a great way to let your followers pick their own journey and figure out, where and how you want to engage with them.Tool 7, Canva. Social media is visual. People want to engage with beautiful content that is readable and ideally unique. Through Canva, you can create tones of social content on almost anything. From adjusting images to even video, to even creating, let’s say carousel that you would post on, let’s say Instagram, Canva can literally do almost anything and best of all, it’s free. heck! You can even use it to create infographics. Exposing my social media strategy. Marketing doesn’t have to be complex. It just has to produce results. And over the years, I found a strategy that works really well for me. RESOURCES & LINKS: ____________________________________________Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/____________________________________________To give you idea, I have over 1 million YouTube followers. I have over 1 million Facebook followers. I have over 315,000 Instagram followers. I have over 440,000 LinkedIn followers. And I have over 430,000 Twitter followers. You get the point. What I’m doing is working. And not really from a follower count perspective either, I know I mentioned my follower counts, but I don’t try to make them grow. Instead, I focus on generating more leads and sales from social media, which has been working. YouTube is now our third most popular channel when it comes to driving clients for my ad agency, NP Digital. That’s how I measure success. It’s actual revenue and money in the bank. And I figured out how to get these kind of results from social media marketing, following three simple rules, which worked when I started and still worked today even after all the algorithm changes. Rule number one, post consistently. See, social media platforms don’t guarantee that your followers are going to see your content. So when you post consistently, you’re more likely to get your followers to see your content. In addition to that, there is no guarantee that your content does well. Some pieces may go viral, others won’t. Some generate hundreds of comments, some generate thousands of likes, and others don’t. In other words, it’s a hit or miss game. The way you get more hits is like creating more content and posting it consistently. Plus, you need to learn from the misses so that way you create more hits. So make sure that you post content daily, literally daily, and you can do it even multiple times a day, but a safe bet is at least once a day and a max of roughly three times a day. Rule two, focus on your ideal customer and no one else. What I mean by this is create content that attracts more customers, not followers. Followers that are irrelevant won’t make you money. So who cares if they follow you? So focus on the right audience. You do this by creating content that is highly relevant to the services or products you offer. When I post content about life lessons, like what I wish I knew when I was 18, it does way better than my marketing content from a view perspective and even a like perspective, but you know what? No one pays me for life lessons. So it’s irrelevant. When I create content around marketing tips and strategies, it gets a fraction of the views and like, but it drives leads and sales. Rule three, genuinely help others. I say genuinely, because if you don’t really care to help others, you won’t. If you care and you really put people first, even if they never provide a dime, it’s a great feeling and it will build brand evangelists. These brand evangelists will talk about you, promote your brand, help you generate the right kind of followers and leads and sales. I stumbled upon this exact rule, this rule three, about being genuinely and helping your followers 10 plus years ago, accidentally, because I was helping people out because I cared, not because it was good for me. Years later, I quickly realized that I was creating brand evangelists and more revenue. That’s all you have to do. So if you follow these three rules, you’ll start doing much better with your social media marketing. It really is that simple, even with all the up and coming algorithm changes that are going to happen over the next year or two.
