You can find it on the neilpatel.com website, and this training is a six-part video course that teaches you all aspects of Instagram. From how to get more followers to how to analyze your stats, to even how to run ads, and even sell on Instagram. What’s cool about this course is: There are cheat sheets, homework assignments, planners, calendars, and other worksheets to make your life easier. So even if you’re new to Instagram, if you follow the worksheets, it’ll help you out drastically.Resource number two: Instagram marketing by HubSpot. The course has 21 videos, six lessons, and six quizzes. It’s a whopping two hours and 30 minutes long. You have to sign up to view the course, but it’s free to sign up. One of the lessons I love in this course is how to create a remarkable Instagram ad content. They also have a lesson on creating remarkable content, just in general, in case you don’t want to run Instagram ads.Resource number three: Instagram marketing basics by Simplilearn. If you’re just starting with Instagram and you haven’t figured out the basics yet or the correct way to even set up your profile, this course is great for you. It doesn’t go over too many advanced elements, such as monetization and how to use it as a business tool, but it’s a great resource for getting started. This course is roughly two hours long, all video-based, and upon completion, you get a completion certificate in case you want to use it to help you get a job.Resource four: Instagram training by Later. If you aren’t familiar with Later, it’s a social media marketing tool. They have a whole section on Instagram training. What’s cool about their training is: it’s short and to the point. It’s not really laid out like a course format, but you can quickly find where you need help, read an article about it, or watch a video about it on Later, and boom, you’re off into the races. It’s great if you’re self-sufficient.Resource five: Increase Instagram engagement on your business profile by Coursera. The reason I wanted to highlight this course is because business profiles tend not to get as much engagement. This course is designed to fix that. It breaks down step by step, how you can create the popular business profile. This is important because business profiles are easier to monetize. And if you don’t have an ad budget, you of course, still want traction. This course will help you with all of that.Resource six: Class Central’s Instagram repository. If you have a lot of time, this is worth checking out. They literally have many courses on Instagram, it’s too many to count, and they have them in different languages, from Arabic to French to German, and the list goes on and on. It’s going to be more time-consuming than most of the other courses and resources I mentioned today, but if you want to get into the nitty gritty about every aspect of Instagram and you don’t mind putting in the time, it’s worth checking out .Last but not least, resource seven: The Meta blueprint. The more you are on Instagram, the more Facebook makes. They have a whole section on their website on how to sell online using Meta platforms. From Facebook to Instagram, they cover all the ad technologies extremely well. It’s worth checking this resource out if you’re considering running paid ads. Funny enough, I would check out this resource before starting to run any ads anyways. It’s always great to get the platform’s point of view. Instagram Content Strategy 101 (How I Took My Instagram From 0 to 300,000 Followers) [Video]

How I went from zero Instagram followers to 300,000 followers, and I’m not talking about buying likes or followers or comments or any of that kind of dodgy stuff, I’m talking about purely organic growth, not ads, literally organic growth. I’ll admit that it hasn’t been a smooth ride. There’s been a lot of downs, a few ups, but I’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons that made those ups really high, that got me a ton of followers. And I’ll break down the things that have been the most impactful in my growth. so that way, you don’t have as many downs as me. It’s grown by 20.3% in a matter of 12 months, which makes it roughly 235 million new users on Instagram. You may think it’s a bit too late to join the party but it’s only getting started. Every day, I see new accounts growing from zero to hundreds and thousands of followers. Will you go to a million right away? No, that’s unrealistic, but you can get thousands. And though the competition is increasing a lot, you can still earn lots of attention if you do the right things. When I was first starting off at the beginning, I did this experiment. I took content from other channels like YouTube and Facebook, and I just posted it on Instagram. I took image-based content and I posted it there too. I tried lots of different content types until I started finding the right things that worked the best. Now, what I did when I reached 50,000 followers was a bit different. I started doing partnerships with influencers. I head up other influencers in the same niche, not a different niche, same niche, and we went live together, we reposted, and my followers would go to their pages and start following them or their profiles and their followers would go to my profile and start following me. Here’s some of the simple things I did in addition to partnerships. I also, when I started hitting 50,000 followers, I started doing Twitter screenshots. Put a quote on Twitters, screenshot it, pop that up on Instagram as well. I also did image carousels. Think about an infographic just broken down into five or six slides so people can swipe and get data. And you can do that with Canva for free. Now, when I reach 200,000 followers, I started doing things a little bit differently, reels, right? Back then, I don’t even know if reels were out when I first started on Instagram, but I started doing reels and I started doubling down on doing reels as it was starting to boom. Eventually, some of my reels worked, some didn’t, I quickly learned what topics people love and what they don’t. I also doubled down on partnerships. Partnerships were working out. Kept doing more of them but with bigger influencers. I also started being guests on other people’s accounts for lives. See, originally when I was doing partnerships, I would go live on someone else’s profile and then they would go live on my profile. That’s how we cross-promote it. But once I started having enough of an audience, I would just go live on their profile and not live on my profile and have them on mine, right? In other words, I would only be on their account and they wouldn’t be on my account. And that brought in a lot of followers and I didn’t have to go as often with my audience and give them fatigue. I call it repurposing content. They make their content for one platform like Instagram, and then just repurpose it on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, et cetera. What are some ways that people can build their personal brand outside of social media, whether it’s podcasts or email newsletters, like what are the other things that people could be doing?So outside of social media, some of the things you can do to build your brand and your platform is you need to get out there on your own website. See social media has algorithms. I know LinkedIn and TikTok are great right now, and you can go viral, but that’s not going to last forever. You controlling your own destiny is super important. So everyone should have their own website and just create a blog. You can do it with WordPress, takes literally a few minutes, a click of button with most hosting platforms, get your domain name and just start creating content, whether that’s articles, videos.Start sending out text messages every time you have a phone number. When you do these types of things, you’ll start building up your brand over time. And it’s called the rule of seven. When someone sees or interacts with your brand seven times, they’re much more likely to evangelize you, buy from you, increase your word of mouth awareness by telling their friends about you. So all you really need to do is just create your own website and then leverage the social platforms while they’re driving traffic and then push that traffic to your website. So that way you can control that audience and not be relying on those social platforms.I know some people are very passionate about certain subjects. I tend to avoid them because what happens is you start polarizing, in which some people will do business with you and some people won’t.But the one thing I will tell you is if you start talking about these sensitive topics, like religion, politics, there’s a good chance you can be a little bit off putting to a certain audience and you could potentially lose business. So you roll the dice with that and that’s why I don’t talk about any of that stuff online. So what about the blogs, forums, Reddit, those types of platforms. Should be, people become experts inside of like, embed themselves in the internet in that fashion? You can, if your business is growing, and you’re doing millions and millions of dollars and you have multiple people in your marketing department, I highly recommend it. If you’re running a small marketing team with one or two, three people, I wouldn’t recommend it.So I would recommend actually going for those smaller sites first, and then eventually if you have extra time go after the “Inc.s” the “Huffington Post”. what you’ll find is it gives you A, brand awareness. The second thing is it adds credibility. The third thing is, is it also drives business.The first thing people need to realize about Facebook is they make money by people clicking on ads. It’s that simple. Facebook hates that because if you link to another site, that means that person is going off of Facebook and the chance of them coming back and clicking on an ad are slim to none.They want more videos to compete with YouTube. They want more live content to compete with the television stations.So Instagram has quite a few different things. And the one thing I would recommend is if you’re trying to post Stories also consider going live, because if you go live and you do interviews, like Dan has a lot of followers, I have some followers, probably not nowhere near as many as him. And that’s a lot to keep up with. But it’s that age-old marketing technique that continually drives revenue that a lot of us take for granted. And if you want to do really well in 2021, and in the future even beyond that, there’s a few things that I would recommend doing. The first is you need more people to link to you. And everyone knows link building. Link building is one website linking to another’s and they say the more links you have, the higher you rank in Google. But we’ve noticed a shift in their algorithm in which you don’t need a ton of links these days. And then the next thing that no one’s really focusing on, and this one is big, is Page Experience. So, they have this algorithm update coming out in 2021 called Page Experience. And they’re first rolling it out with mobile. It’s unknown if they’ll roll it out to desktop, but I bet they eventually will. So, they’re starting to look at the experience, are users actually looking at the content, going to multiple pages? Or are they just clicking the back button and going to the next result because they’re not finding what they’re looking for. So don’t just optimize for a quote, unquote algorithm. If you optimize for the user experience, in the long run, you’ll rank better. And the last tip that I’ll give you, so when you think about the social web, there’s a pattern. There’s Facebooks, the YouTubes, the LinkedIns, and the list goes on and on. The biggest player out there in the social space is Facebook, which also owns Instagram. And there’s this pattern that happens on most social networks. They’re very generous, they get you a ton of organic reach and the moment they have a ton of users, they’re like, hmm, it’s time for us to make more money. We want you to spend more on ads, or we’re going to crush your reach. Now there’s three social networks where it’s really easy to get reach from. One is LinkedIn, one is TikTok, and the other is YouTube. So these three networks, although I don’t really spend much on TikTok because it’s more B2C, but LinkedIn and YouTube, I’m very heavy on. And with LinkedIn, we’re just posting content all the time because if you think about it, it’s the underdog. So, if you just create content on there, you’re going to get love. The last step that I looked up and I don’t know how accurate it is now, but it was a few months ago. I was finding an article that was saying something like roughly only 3% of users on LinkedIn are creating content, only 3%. So they’re like starving for this content, they just want more, so they’ll say, if you want to be part of that 3% and you want to give us content, we’ll just show it to a lot of people because we’re the underdog. Instagram and Facebook, you know, all the other platforms, they don’t have that issue where a very, very small percentage is only creating content. So, just go out there and put anything on there and you’ll do well. I know that sounds bad, but it’s the reality.
