In this video, Michael goes over a few phrases you might hear from your client that can indicate you are giving advice, instead of guiding your client to formulate a solution on their own. It is important to recognize if you are starting to give advice, and re-direct your question to allow the coachee to arrive at their own answer or solution. As a coach, our ego can sometimes get in the way and want to help, however we may not know the best solution. Avoiding the trap of giving advice is important to keep the session client focused. In this video, Michael discusses how to manage your time in a coaching session. It is important to set session guidelines at the beginning of each session. Clients, in general, will not be keeping track of the time. Keep the beginning, middle, and closing times in mind, so that each section is addressed and given enough time to cover what you have planned to cover with the client. At the mid-point pause and check-in with the client, to make sure you are on track. Keep watching to learn more about how to manage your time in the coaching session!
