Tuesday’s municipal election includes candidates running for school board, mayor and city council.
The Boone County clerk said that an active campaign cycle could lead to more voters.
“People have been really interested and we have been getting calls about voter education and things like that,” Boone County Clerk Brianna Lennon said.
At around 4:30 p.m., Lennon said they had reached 19% of Boone County participation.
Lennon said she expects Boone County to reach 25% participation.
Lennon also said that the voter turnout is often dependent on what people are voting on.
“It’s not always guaranteed that there’s going to be the same types of races on the ballot,” Lennon said.
Polls close at 7 p.m., and Lennon encourages everyone to go out and vote while they still can.
