✅ Pros of email marketing tool ActiveCampaign
✅ ActiveCampaign has the most comprehensive marketing automation features compared to its competitors. It can be overwhelming if you’re a beginner, though.
✅ Active Campaign is a platform you can quickly grow into without outgrowing too soon. What I mean is that they have multiple paid plans and plenty of features for you to further improve your marketing efforts.
✅ A cheaper alternative to SalesForce’s Pardot.
✅ A cheaper alternative to HubSpot.
✅ Active Campaign offers you hundreds of existing automation “recipes,” or in other words, examples you can use for your business.
✅ Their Professional plan (3rd paid plan) offers you a dedicated onboarding specialist and 1:1 training.
✅ Although there is no chat support during weekends, they offer excellent customer service. I’ve read many reviews online, and lots of them mention customer service as one of their pros. For example, customers regularly say they like that Active Campaign’s tech team creates quick video walk-throughs to help its customers.
✅ You can create custom thank you pages for opt-in forms.
✅ You can customize the confirmation message/email for every opt-in form.
✅ You can split-test automation workflows, which you can’t do in many other email marketing tools. ActiveCampaign uses its Split feature for this.
✅ When current subscribers enter their email address in your signup forms, they will be automatically redirected to the URL you added to the confirmation button. This will come in handy when your subscribers want to, for example, download your new freebie. They can do so in an instant because they are already subscribed.

❌ Cons of email marketing tool ActiveCampaign
❌ There’s no forever free plan. They only offer a 14-day free trial. You don’t have to enter your credit card details, though. Another thing, although you can test many features in the 14-day free trial, you can’t try everything.
❌ No chat support on Saturday and Sunday. What is more, live chat support is available from Monday to Thursday from 6 am to 11 pm CST (Central Standard Time.) This might be annoying for European citizens who like to do their work in the morning. Live chat support in Central European Time is available somewhere around 1 pm through the night.
The software/platform can be slow from time to time.
❌ There is no option to create a segment of your contacts that did not open any emails you sent in the last X days. So basically a segment of inactive subs.
❌ ActiveCampaign offers you multiple features to accomplish the same thing making the software unnecessarily complicated. Sometimes it is better to remove features instead of adding them.
❌ The process of sending a newsletter to the people who did not open or click a link in the email is far more complicated than most other email marketing software tools.
❌ ActiveCampaign doesn’t have the feature where you can link an opt-in popup to a hyperlink, image, or button.
❌ You can’t easily upload a pdf (free ebook) to a link in an email. You first need to upload the file to a 3rd party, like Dropbox or Google Drive.
