The three reasons why you need to think about copyright for AI artwork:
Lack of originality: Copyright law protects original works of authorship, which are the products of a creator’s own imagination and creativity. While AI-generated artwork may involve complex algorithms and sophisticated processing techniques, it ultimately lacks the element of human creativity and intent that is necessary for copyright protection.
No legal standing: AI-generated artwork cannot legally own property or hold copyright because it is not a legal entity or a person. Without ownership rights, AI cannot sue for copyright infringement, nor can it license or transfer ownership of the artwork.
No human authorship: Copyright law requires that a human being be the author of the work in order to qualify for protection. Because AI lacks the capacity for original authorship, it cannot create a work that is eligible for copyright protection.
