There is a lot of pressure in our lives to be perfect. Pressures in our jobs with the work product we produce, pressure in our personal lives to be at our absolute best on all occasions with family and friends. For those of us who produce content on social media as part of our businesses or even just in personal posts, we are publishing in a sea of articles, photos, videos and podcasts that display an almost unattainable level of polish. But there is a problem with striving for a similar veneer of perfection with your posts – and that is that people will have a hard time connecting with them. That’s because people are by their very nature, flawed. We tend to have a nagging distrust of things that are too perfect. We just can’t relate it them. To truly connect with people, we need to show up as authentically human, that is: authentic, vulnerable and imperfect.
